To overcome the difficulties incurred during the time of purchasing fertilizers the Managing Director of OCIR THE thought about creating a common fund for all members of the tea sector.

Several meetings were held relating to the common understanding of the fund. The last meeting held on 30/01/2009 brought together the chairperson of cooperatives and their managers, directors of OCIR THE’s factories, heads of departments at OCIR THE headquarters and directors of private tea factories.

The meeting agreed upon the establishment of the fertilizer fund. Starting from February 2009, 22 Rwandan francs per kg of green leaf production will be deducted and put into this fund.

Directors of private factory said that they will join after their Board of Directors has agreed upon it.
